Cable Installations

At FKS we have a fully trained installation resource qualified in all kinds of telecommunications cables using several installation methods, we both install and terminate;

Copper cable from 10 pairs to 1000 pairs
Fibre cable using assist/fleeting winches from 4 fibre to 432 fibre
Coaxial cable 540, 625, 750, 860
Sub duct installation 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 way

Fujikura 50s and 60s are the preferred fibre splicing machines used by out fully accredited fibre splice and test resource, all our fibre splicers carry OTDRs and ILM test equipment including Exfo, CMA, HP and Anritsu.

We carry out thousands of business connections as well as major trunk routes every year making us the largest installations company in the North of England.

We install and terminate over 2000klms of cable annually for a multitude of customers.

Blown Fibre Cable Installation

We are a fully accredited approved installer of Emtelle Micro Bore Sub duct (MBSD) and Micro Cable products for a number of clients, we have recently installed 41,000m of 16mm O/D 12mm I/D Micro Bore Sub duct (MBSD) and installed into this a 96 fibre Micro cable in 4000m cable sections, the 96 fibre was a 6.8mm diameter cable 12 fibres per tube. The total project including fusion splicing OTDR testing and handling back to the client was completed to program in a seven week timeframe.

We can install MBSD as small as 7mm O/D and 3.5mm I/D which would have a 1.6mm 12 fibre Micro cable blown into it or as large as a MBSD 18mm O/D 14mm I/D which will accept a 288 fibre Micro cable with an external diameter of only 10.4mm.

All cables are installed using the latest technology in fibre cable blowing heads, we specialise in using 2A and the CBS AIRSTREAM cable blowing machines paired with the M17 15 bar compressor fitted with air dryer technology which guarantees no condensation build up giving a stress free cable installation, thus a stress free installation extends the fibre cables total life span by more than 50%.

Installing cable in up to 4000m sections reduces the need for intermediate joint locations giving a lower overall route loss, this is a major advantage and can increase span lengths considerably on long haul trunk routes reducing the need for POP or remote fibre regeneration sites.

We also install a more conventional none metallic type fibre cable using the CBS TORNADO blowing machine, we can install cables into standard sub ducts as large as 32mm O/D again in some cases we are able to blow the cable up to 4000m this would be 2000m each way from the blowing head set up position
